Sunday Sevens (11th October 2015)

The Sunday Sevens series was created by Nat at Thread and Bobbins to share awesome and exciting things that don’t necessarily deserve a whole post of their own. I have lots and lots I want to share and hopefully this will be the perfect way.

But not so much this week …

1 – The week started out all right. I baked my Nana lots of lovely goodies for her birthday 🙂 Scones with home-made jam I made last year, biscuits, cakes and some chocolate spoons ’cause we all need a few extra spoons in our day (This is a reference to the Spoon Theory created by Christine Miserandino to help explain chronic illnesses/disabilities).

2 – But quite quickly the week went downhill. I was feeling worse everyday. At first I thought I was just getting a bug and pushed through it. I went to Guides, I did some work… there was one night where I had a whole tub of ice cream. (No regrets – it was TASTY!) … I took it easy, but in the back of my head I knew it wasn’t a bug. I’ve been pushing it a lot lately…

3 – By Wednesday I was starting to feel worse, but it was only as I was leaving for knit and natter that it all properly hit me. It was too late to cancel my lift and I thought the fresh air may do me good, so I went. Yea, in hindsight I probably shouldn’t have gone ’cause I sure didn’t feel any better when I got home. But we had tea and biscuits and I did a little crochet, so that was good.

4 – From there on though I wasn’t very well at all … worst flare in ages … just meh! So I’ve spent a lot of time in bed. I was inside for two days, with the curtains closed and the day interspersed with sleep. Even with several naps a day I still managed to sleep at least 12 hours through the night. My head just wasn’t letting up, I was aching all over, I felt nauseas, dizzy and couldn’t concentrate on anything. I took all my tablets, I rested … I did everything, but nothing was working and I felt pretty pathetic. I tried my best not to let it get to me. It was a flare and it would pass. In between sleeping I watched the final of Bake Off, the whole of Dr Foster and some Tenth Doctor Who episodes. Anything to distract me.

5 – By Friday night I was feeling more positive. A helped of course, he always does. I was a little worried ’cause I had to feel better by Saturday. My Guides had a trip planned to ICANDO at the Guide head quarters in London. But worrying wasn’t going to help me, so I made sure to get an early night and set my alarm. Saturday morning came and although I wasn’t great, I also wasn’t too bad either. So, I packed everything I may need and gritted my teeth. Off I went! And I’m so glad I did. It was a lovely day 🙂 We even popped by the palace… unfortunately the Queen wasn’t home.

6 – But I did get a new badge for the activities we did at ICANDO 🙂 The World Traveller badge.

7 – I even had some time to do a bit of crochet … although I forgot my stitch markers so had to make do and use my earrings.

It’s now Sunday and I’m sore from yesterday, but feeling a lot more upbeat – Enjoy the rest of your weekend!

I’m sorry you had/are having a rough time 😦 But I wanted to thank you for introducing me to the Spoon theory. It’s amazing and all of a sudden I have this amazing tool to talk about how I’m feeling. Thank you!
