Yay this week I finished the beautiful butterfly shawl I have been making as a Christmas gift, and oh how I want to keep it. The cotton feels so lovely and the colour is gorgeous … I am just going to have to add this to the list to make for me.
I gave you a sneak peak at the shawl while it was blocking in my Sunday Sevens as I just couldn’t wait to share.
Annoyingly the third ball ran out just inches before I was about to start the simple one row border I had found … so back I ripped it to the end of the last butterflies.
Here are some photos of this beauty …
And a close up of the stitch pattern. This is just a four row repeat, so super quick to get the hang of and mostly only uses chains and trebles (UK terms), with the odd double treble for the butterfly’s body.
And here’s that one row border I mentioned above. It’s by Michon Chandler and it compliments the shawl perfectly with it’s simplicity.
Have I mentioned that I LOVE THIS SHAWL? Yes? …. Oh, well I’ll just say it again – LOVE LOVE LOVE it 🙂
Anyway some quick details:
- Yarn used – Katia Jaipu in colourway 210
- Number of skeins – 3, but I did have a tiny bit left over
- Hook size used- 3mm
- Size – 123cm along the top and 56cm from the middle of the top to the point.
